It is considered one of the holiest sites in Kinnaur - as locals believe the lake is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The village has an old monastery and - it is believed to have been built - in the 11th century - which still shows the strong Buddhist influence. 7. Nako Village

The weather in Kinnaur - changes beautifully with the seasons, and each has its own charm.

Summer (April – June):

The best season to visit Kinnaur. Clear skies, pleasant weather, and blooming apple orchards - make it ideal for sightseeing, hiking, and exploring Sangla, Chitkul, Kalpa, and even trekking to Yulla Kanda.

Monsoon (July – September):

The valley turns lush green - and clouds play hide and seek with the mountains - creating dramatic landscapes. However - monsoon also brings the risk of landslides - so road travel can be tricky.

Winter (October – March):

Winters here are extremely cold - especially from December to March. Temperatures dip below zero, roads get snow-covered, and - Nako Lake freezes into a mirror of ice. Snowy mountain views are breathtaking - but only travelers comfortable with extreme cold - should plan a visit during this time.
